T20I: India has won two in two matches in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. The Men in Blue won their opening match versus the Irish Men comprehensively. Then India chased down the poultry score of 97 runs in 12.2 overs. Even though the Blues lost Virat Kohli for just one run. But Rohit and Rishabh steadied the ship in this small run chase. The Skipper scored 52 runs and he was retired hurt. While Pant was unbeaten on 36 runs and guided the team home. India won that match by eight wickets.

Yesterday, 9th June 2024, India faced Pakistan in New York. This was the thrilling encounter between the arch-rivals. India lost the toss and Pakistan sent the Blues to bat first. But again, the start wasn’t an ideal one as Kohli departed for another low score. Virat managed just 6 runs to his name.

Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel built a partnership, which India needed. But the Pakistani bowlers chipped in with important strikes. India was bundled out for just 119 runs in 19 overs. Only Pant and Patel were the double-digit scorers for the Men in Blue in yesterday’s match.

However, the pacers complimented the needs of the team well. They held their nerves. It was Boom Boom Bumrah again, who stood tall while Siraj, Pandya and Arshdeep also did a decent job along with Axar, who also picked up a wicket to his name. India restricted Pakistan to 113 for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs and won this nail-biting encounter by just six runs. 120 runs is the lowest scored defended by India in the shortest format.

In today’s segment, we shall discuss the batters who scored a three-mark in the shortest format. Only Suresh Raina is the one who has scored a century in the T20 World Cup history from Team India. While three current players in the current squad have amassed a ton in the T20 International format.

T20I: 1 – Rohit Sharma

The current skipper Rohit Sharma, was the second Indian batter to score a ton in the shortest format. Rohit achieved this feat against South Africa in 2015 at Dharamshala. He scored 106 runs and recorded his first-ever hundred in the shortest format. But that knock went in vain as India lost that T20I match.

Sharmaji has hit four more tons in T20I and is the only batter to do it in T20I format in the world right now. In this World Cup of the shortest format, HITMAN is expected to deliver for India at this bigger stage in USA first  and Caribbean later when this tournament shifts in West Indies.

T20I: 2 – Suryakumar Yadav

SKY – Suryakumar Yadav

The middle-order batsman from the Mumbai Indians side and team India, Suryakumar Yadav is the number one batter of the shortest format. This talented youngster scored his maiden T20I century when India was chasing a target of 215 runs.

Surya came to bat when India had lost Pant, Kohli, and skipper Rohit Sharma early. Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer took control of the proceedings and helped India to be in the tough run chase. SKY (Suryakumar Yadav) looked in fine form. But Shreyas was struggling at the other end.

So, SKY took most of the responsibility and tried his best to get India over the line. But the England bowlers were good in this game, and Surya’s 117-run knock went in vain as the hosts won the match by 17 runs. Overall SKY has scored three T20I tons to his name till now.

T20I: 3 – Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli

The King of all formats in International Cricket also has one century in the shortest format. King Kohli has 8 centuries in the Indian Premier League and he scored his first and only hundred in the T20 International against the Men of Afghans in the 2022 Asia Cup which was played in the shortest format. Kohli scored 122 runs in that match-winning encounter.
