The most high profile controversy had happened in the TATA IPL was in the 2019 edition. During the league match between Kings XI Punjab now known as Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals, the Double R’s cruised towards the victory. But it was Ashwin’s cunningness that stopped RR, and it turned as one of the bizarre matches of IPL history.
Ashwin was on his follow-through, and he didn’t complete his action. But when he saw Buttler moving outside his crease at the nonstriker’s, Ashwin immediately whipped the bails off and appealed to the umpires. The umpires gave out Jos Buttler out according to the rules of the game. But this dismissal didn’t go well with the cricket experts, and Ashwin had to face a lot of criticism for doing this. But Ashwin felt that he was right and what he did was according to the game’s rules and laws.
2. IPL 2013 –

In the season of 2013, another controversy took place in the TATA IPL. The Delhi Police arrested the three players from Rajasthan Royals because they were involved with the bookies in the betting-related activities. The three cricket players were from India, and they were S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila, and Ankeet Chavan.
All these three cricket players were arrested in a hotel from Mumbai. This incident had brought a disgrace to the cricketing world, and these three players were also banned from playing cricket. S Sreesanth was the one affected the most. He served a seven years ban, which was lifted in 2020. After the ban, Sree was seen playing with his domestic team Kerala in the recent Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. But he has been ignored him in the IPL 2021 auctions there after.
3. Bhajji slapped Sreeshant and Kohli Gauti spat –

These two incidents amongst the Indian players made many of us think that the TATA IPL has been playing a divide and rule policy. Many of the fans were disheartened to see that the two Indian players were fighting amongst themselves. Bhajji and Sreesanth were the heroes of India’s World T20 win in South Africa in 2007. India won that tournament, and that’s why BCCI had started this cash-rich league tournament in 2008.
In comparison, Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli helped the team to lift the world cup after 28 years in 2011 at home. These four cricketers were engaged in a not so funny banter on the cricket field while playing for their respective franchise teams.
In the game between Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians, Harbhajan Singh slapped S Sreeshant before the presentation ceremony. Sreesanth was seen crying after this incident. Sree had said hard luck to MI’s Harbhajan, which provoked the terminator, and he acted in this appropriate manner. Later, BCCI conducted many investigations regarding this matter, and Bhajji was also banned from 11 IPL games in the IPL 2008 season.

The batsmen from Delhi were also involved in a spat. These two batsmen splashed loud words during a match between KKR and RCB in the IPL 2013 edition. Virat and Gautam Gambhir have same personalities. They are never afraid to take on each other in the on-field banter. Both the players were charged up, and they had exchanged a lot of words. The umpires had to intervene in this spat, and the fans of Kohli and Gambhir still remember this incident of the TATA IPL.
