IPL History: The Indian Premier League has been a huge source of entertainment since the first ever season of 2008. The first match of that opening season is still be remembered for Brendon McCullum’s onslaught against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. BAZ played an amazing knock of an unbeaten 158 runs and Kolkata Knight Riders won that game by 140 runs.
This year as well, the first match of the TATA IPL 2025 season will be played between these two same teams, KKR and RCB, who had also participated in the first season of this cash rich league tournament in 2008. The first match of the 18th edition will be played on 22nd March 2025 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Today we shall mention the three players of the IPL History who have amassed a record of scoring a century and picking up a hat trick in this tournament. These two achievements are very big in cricket. One Indian, One Australian and a player from the West Indies are featured in this top three list.
1. Rohit Sharma –

India’s T20 World Cup 2024 and ICC Champions Trophy 2025 winning skipper, Ro-HITMAN Sharma has also won the Indian Premier League title for five times in the IPL History. HITMAN started his career in this cash rich league tournament with Deccan Chargers in 2008.
In the IPL History, Rohit Sharma has scored two centuries to his name till now. HITMAN’s first ton came in 2012 against Kolkata Knight Riders and his second hundred in this tournament came last year versus CSK. Sharma Ji’s lone hat trick came in 2009 when he played for Deccan Chargers against his current franchise MI.
2. Shane Watson –

Shane Watson is still regarded as one of the greatest all-rounders who had played in the IPL. He was the backbone of the teams like Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings. RR won their first ever and only title in 2008 while CSK won their third title in 2018 and in both the editions of the IPL History, Watto was like a pillar to these two franchise teams.
Shane Watson is the first overseas player to score a ton and take a hat trick in the IPL History. This former Aussie all-rounder had scored 4 centuries in his career in the Indian Premier League and has also taken a hat-trick in the IPL. Watson took his only hat-trick against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2014 season while he played for Rajasthan Royals.
3. Sunil Narine –

The West Indian mystery spinner and a great opener, Sunil Narnie is the last player and the latest entrant in this list of top three. In the last season, this West Indian power hitter smashed 109 runs in just 56 deliveries against Rajasthan Royals and in the 2013 season against Punjab Kings, Narine also picked up his lone hat trick in the IPL History.
