Today in this segment, We shall mention the three Teams who won the T20 World Cup Two Times –
1. West Indies –

The first country to win the T20 World Cup twice is the West Indies. Their first trophy of the shortest form of the game came in 2012 when that year’s ICC event played in Sri Lanka. On this day in 2016, the Windies won their second title of the shortest format when that whole event was played in India.
Another interesting fact is the women’s team of the West Indies also clinched their T20 World Cup trophy on the same day as the Men’s cricket team did. The Windies faced Eion Morgan’s England in the final of the 2016 T20 World Cup. Carlos Brathwaite was the one who smashed four back-to-back sixes to Ben Stokes and Ian Bishop’s most loved line of “Carlos Brathwaite, Rember The Name” was spoken on this day as well.
2. England –

The second team that won the ICC event of the shortest format was the team of England. In 2010, Paul Collingwood and his men won their first-ever ICC trophy when the T20 World Cup was played in the Caribbean. Then in 2022, under the leadership of Jos Buttler, the team of England won their second trophy of the shortest format in Australia.
3. India –

The Men in Blue ended their long wait of winning an ICC title during the T20 World Cup 2024. India’s last trophy came in 2013 when MS Dhoni and Co. lifted the ICC Champions Trophy in England. After 17 years and many heartbreaks, India won an ICC event in Barbados.
The Men in Blue won their second T20 World Cup title under Rohit Sharma and the team didn’t lose any matches in that 20 overs event. In 2007 under the leadership of MSD, India was the first country to win this ICC event of the shortest format in South Africa.
Now, in the T20 World Cup 2026, India can achieve two feats in one ICC event. The Men in Blue can be the first ever host nation to win the T20 World Cup and at the same, India can also be the only team in the world to win two back-to-back T20 World Cup trophies.
