We all know that India reached the finals of the WTC (World Test Championship) in 2021 and 2023. But they ended up in a losing cause on both occasions. In 2021, India lost the finals against New Zealand; in 2023, the Aussies won that championship. Both times, the finals of the WTC were held in England and for the third back-to-back time the WTC Final will be played in the UK and the 2025 finals will be played at Lords Cricket Ground in London.

Talking about the series played between India and Bangladesh, the home side dominated both the matches played in the red ball format. Bangladesh had their moments, especially in the first match of the series where India was placed at 144 for the loss of six wickets at one stage. But the visitors couldn’t grasp that chance to make a match out of it. Apart from a few changes, this was the same team of Bangladesh which beat Pakistan in that two-match Test series and won their first-ever series versus Pakistan in the Men in Green nation.

India batted well in this series while Bangladesh couldn’t match India’s dominance with the bat and ball. That is why, India had three centurions in this series and all three batters scored their tons in the first Test match which was played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

On the other hand, Bangladesh had just one batter who amassed the three figure mark in this red ball format series. Here are the three batters from Men in Blue and one batsman from Bangladesh who scored a ton in this two-match Test series –

1. Ravichandran Ashwin Was The 1st Centurion Of The Test Series –

Ravichandran Ashwin

India had started poorly but still ended day one on a high. It was mainly possible because of the spin twins who came to the team’s rescue with the willow in hand. India was placed at 144 runs for the loss of six wickets and that was the time when Ash came out to the crease with his bowling partner Ravindra Jadeja. Ash and Jaddu helped India to reach a position of solidity after stumps on the first day. Ravichandran amassed his sixth Test century and second on his homeground in Chennai.

Ash and Jaddu helped India to reach a position of solidity after stumps on the first day of the opening match. Ravichandran amassed his sixth Test century and second on his home ground in Chennai. Ashwin scored 113 runs in the first Test match of this two match series of the red ball format.

2. Shubman Gill Scored The Highest Individual Score Of 119* Runs In This Series  –

The Prince had got out on zero in the first innings of the first red ball match. However, he made a stunning century in the second innings and took India to a match winning position. Gill scored an unbeaten 119 runs and his score is the highest individual score for the Men in Blue in this two match series of the Test format after Ashiwn’s 113 runs in the 1st innings of the opening match.

3. Rishabh Pant Scored 109 Runs On His Comeback Test Match –

What a comeback for Rishabh Pant in international cricket. Pant was also the part of T20 World Cup 2024 winning team and in the red ball format, he has scored a terrific hundred. His last innings was also a good one and that too against the same opposition team of Bangladesh. In 2022, Rishabh scored 93 runs at Dhaka and in this current game, Pant has slammed the 3rd ton for India in this series.

The flamboyant wicketkeeper batter scored 109 runs. This knock wasn’t an usual one for Pant where he smashed fours and sixes. But here he took time to get his eye in and then smashed the Bangladeshi bowlers all round the Chidambaram Stadium. He also shared a mammoth partnership of 170 runs with Gill to take the team out of trouble.

4. Mominul Haque: The Lone Centurion From Bangladesh In The Two Match Test Series Versus India –

Mominul Haque

The former skipper of Bangladesh looked good on day one of the second test when Bangladesh batted. He was not on 40 runs. On day 4 when the play resumed after two days of washout, Mominul Haque came out with a positive intent which the other batters of Bangladesh lacked in this whole series.

He scored his 13th Test century and he is the only second batter to smash a ton in India. Mushfiqur Rahim was the first one to amass this feat in 2017 at Hyderabad. Haque was unbeaten on 107 runs in the first innings of the second Test match in Kanpur and was the only batter from Bangladesh to reach the three figure mark in this series.
