Must read

Rinku Singh Biography: September 28, 2025—a day when a young boy played as a replacement for a legendary player like Hardik Pandya.

This young man won the India vs. Pakistan Asia Cup Final by hitting a boundary on the very last ball.

Today, we will learn about that very player—a cricketer who has created a storm in the world of cricket. So, let’s begin.

Rinku’s Childhood.

Born on October 12, 1997, in Aligarh, UP, Rinku Singh is the third child of his parents.

His father’s name is Khancharan Singh, who worked in a gas agency, while his mother, Veena Devi, is a housewife. Rinku has three brothers and one sister.

Rinku loved cricket since childhood, but due to the poor financial condition of his home, he was unable to fulfill his dream.

Consequently, he started playing cricket with a tennis ball and began attending tennis ball tournaments with his brother.

However, his father was against this and wanted Rinku to earn some money to help run the household.

To ensure this, Rinku’s father even got him a job as a sweeper at a coaching center, but Rinku flatly refused to do the work.

He was determined to make a career in cricket. To achieve this, playing with a leather ball was essential, but given his financial situation, playing professional cricket was very difficult.

Therefore, instead of a private academy, he started learning cricket at a government stadium.

When coach Masood Uz Zafar Amini noticed Rinku’s talent, he began coaching him personally.

He would send him to big tournaments, for which Rinku would ask his brothers for the ball fees.

While his mother and brothers understood and supported his passion for cricket, his father never quite understood his desire to become a cricketer.

Winning a Bike and Winning His Father’s Trust

Then came the day when Rinku became the ‘Man of the Series’ in a tournament and won a bike.

He gifted this bike to his father so that it would be easier for him to deliver cylinders. After this, his father also became convinced that his son would achieve something in cricket.

Rinku upheld his father’s trust and, by the age of 16, had made his debut in Under-16, Under-19, and List A cricket.

His performance was so spectacular that he landed a spot in the IPL, attracting the attention of several teams.

Consequently, in 2017, Punjab picked Rinku for a base price of 10 lakhs. This amount meant a lot to Rinku, as he used this money to pay off his father’s debts.

Following this was the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy season, where Rinku performed brilliantly, scoring 963 runs in 10 matches.

A major turning point in Rinku’s life came that same year when KKR bought him for 80 lakhs. With this IPL contract, Rinku bought his own house.

Distance from Cricket Due to Injury

However, after playing so remarkably, something happened that forced Rinku away from cricket for six months.

In 2021, while trying to take a run in a first-class match just before the IPL, Rinku injured his knee. Due to this, he had to stay away from cricket on bed rest for six months.

This was a time of great sorrow for Rinku and his family as he had to miss the first phase of the IPL.

However, the KKR management helped him significantly during this difficult time and showed faith in his talent.

Because of this trust, KKR bought Rinku for 55 lakhs in the 2022 mini-auction, and team mentor Abhishek Nayar prepared him.

Creating History and Becoming ‘Lord Rinku’

On April 9, 2023, Rinku did something that had never happened in the history of the IPL. It was the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Titans.

In the last over, 28 runs were needed, and Rinku Singh was on strike. He hit five sixes off the fast balls of bowler Yash Dayal to win the match for Kolkata, something no one expected.

After this match, everyone nicknamed Rinku “Lord Rinku” and “The Finisher.”

This was the season where Rinku started getting TV advertisements, and his financial struggles finally ended.

Rinku did not let this success go to his head; instead, remembering his past, he built sports hostels for underprivileged children.

Becoming a Permanent Player for the Indian Team

On August 18, 2023, Rinku made his debut for the Indian team and secured his place as a permanent player. That same year, he also made his ODI debut.

Then came January 17, 2024, during a high-stakes match between India and Afghanistan.

India had lost 4 wickets for just 22 runs. At this moment, Rinku Singh came to the crease, and the entire match turned around.

Rinku played a blistering innings of 69 runs off 39 balls, including 6 sixes and 2 fours.

In this match, Rinku shared a 190-run partnership with Captain Rohit Sharma, and India won the match in a Super Over.

Currently, in 2026, Rinku has been included in the T20 World Cup squad.

Discussions About His Love Life

Meanwhile, there was also much talk about Rinku’s love life. People saw news of his engagement to Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj on social media, after which, on June 8, 2025, Rinku finally announced his engagement via an Instagram post.
