Khan Sir coaching attack: A wave of anxiety swept through Bihar’s educational hub, Patna, following late-night reports of an assault at the popular educational institute ‘Khan Global Studies‘.
While early rumors pointed toward an active gun violence incident, a rapid police investigation has revealed a narrative driven by corporate rivalry, vandalism, and student anger.
The Incident: Tuesday Night Chaos in Patna
Khan Sir coaching attack: On Tuesday night (June 2, 2026), around 10:10 PM, chaos broke out near the Musallahpur Hat area in Patna outside the coaching institute of the highly popular educator, Khan Sir.
A group of 15 to 20 individuals arrived at the venue, creating a massive ruckus that quickly escalated into physical violence. The men forced their way closer to the premises, tore down promotional posters, and began throwing stones at the property.
During the commotion, the on-duty security guard attempted to stop the miscreants. The mob turned on him, launching a severe physical assault.
The guard sustained multiple injuries and was subsequently rushed to a local hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Inside the office, minor property damage was reported as the group ransacked parts of the entry area before fleeing.
Initially, rumors spread rapidly on social media that a massive gunfight involving 10 rounds of continuous firing had taken place inside the campus, leaving students and locals deeply panicked about their safety.
Firing Claims vs. Police Findings
Khan Sir coaching attack: Immediately after the incident, Khan Sir reached the center around 11:30 PM. Alarmed by the situation, he initially stated to local media that around ten rounds of bullets were fired by the attackers to terrorize his staff.
However, when the Patna Police, led by local officials and CCTV forensic units, combed through the crime scene, the physical evidence told a completely different story.
Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kartikeya Sharma clarified that the initial investigation showed no signs of empty cartridges, bullet holes, or acoustic evidence of gunfire.
Neighboring residents and shopkeepers confirmed a violent brawl and heavy stone-pelting, but denied hearing gunshots.
Security footage handed over to the police confirmed a mob of young men some identified as local students tearing down banners and assaulting the guard, but no firearms were visible.
The police officially confirmed it as a case of structural vandalism and physical assault rather than a shooting.
The Morning After: Angry Students Take to the Streets
Khan Sir coaching attack: The ripple effect of the Tuesday night incident was felt strongly on Wednesday morning (June 3, 2026). Thousands of students arrived at the center expecting their routine classes.
However, given the ongoing police probe and safety concerns, Khan Sir declined to conduct classes for the day.
This decision triggered emotional demonstrations. Hundreds of students gathered outside the gates, chanting slogans like “Khan Sir Zindabad” to show solidarity.
Fearing for their teacher’s life, the protesting students blocked local paths, demanding immediate state-level security for Khan Sir and strict punishment for the culprits.
In response to the growing crowd, Patna Police deployed additional security forces to secure the perimeter and keep the situation under control.
Who is Khan Sir and Why is He Targeted?
Khan Sir is one of India’s most celebrated online and offline educators, famous for his unique, humorous, and simplified teaching style in Hindi.
His institute, Khan Global Studies, coaches millions of underprivileged students preparing for highly competitive government exams like the UPSC, BPSC, and Bihar Police recruitment.
The core of the issue lies in his business model. Khan Sir charges a tiny fraction of what traditional, commercialized coaching hubs demand.
While mainstream institutes charge tens of thousands of rupees, Khan Sir offers quality courses for minimal fees, making education accessible to poor students.
This disruptive pricing strategy has long irritated commercial coaching operators in Patna, who view him as a direct threat to their multi-crore business empires.
Just days before this attack, Khan Sir had hosted a massive celebration to honor thousands of his students who successfully cleared the Bihar Police recruitment exam.
According to Khan Sir, this massive success triggered immense jealousy among business rivals, leading to anonymous threats that his office would be “blown up” within forty-eight hours.
A Call for Safety in Education Hubs
While the Patna Police have debunked the firing narrative, the reality of the Khan Sir coaching attack highlights a dark underbelly of commercial education rivalries.
The local administration is currently analyzing the CCTV footage to track down the 15 to 20 individuals involved.
For the thousands of students who depend on affordable learning, the government’s ability to protect grassroots educators from corporate hostility remains a pressing concern
