The victims, originally from the Latehar district of Jharkhand, were lured to a village under the pretext of performing at a Tilak (pre-wedding) ceremony.

According to the police, an First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against 13 individuals, including 10 named suspects and three unidentified accomplices.

The Incident: How the Crime Unfolded

Patna Gangrape: The two sisters currently reside in a rented accommodation in the Mithapur locality of Patna to pursue their livelihood.

On June 18, a local resident identified as Munna Kumar, from Bhelura Rampur village, contacted the sisters and booked their dance services for a Tilak function for an agreed amount of ₹8,000.

According to the victims’ official complaint, Munna Kumar picked them up from Mithapur on a scooter to take them to the venue.

However, instead of taking them to the public function, he allegedly navigated to an isolated location.

The sisters were confronted by Munna’s cousin, Suraj Kumar, along with another associate named Bhanu Kumar, and several other young men.

The victims alleged that they were held hostage and forcefully moved to different secluded locations throughout the night. A group of over ten men reportedly took turns sexually assaulting them.

When the sisters attempted to escape, the perpetrators physically assaulted them and threatened to kill them if they raised an alarm.

Rescue Operations and Police Intervention

Patna Gangrape: The ordeal came to light on the morning of June 19, when the accused individuals attempted to transport the sisters back in a vehicle. As the vehicle reached the Phulwari Sharif locality, the sisters took a courageous risk and began screaming for help from inside the moving car.

Hearing their cries, local residents gathered at the spot and immediately alerted the emergency services by calling the police helpline (Dial-112).

A patrol team swiftly arrived at the scene, rescued both women, and brought them safely to the Phulwari Sharif police station.

Given that the jurisdiction of the crime fell under the Naubatpur police station, the local authorities were notified, and a team from Naubatpur took over the custody of the victims to initiate formal legal proceedings.

Current Investigation, Legal Actions, and Arrests

Following the rescue, senior police officials, including Phulwari Sharif Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO-2) Deepak Kumar, visited the crime scenes to oversee the initial investigation.

A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) was also deployed to collect crucial scientific and physical evidence from the locations mentioned by the victims.
