Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly becoming a convenience for individuals, with its benefits extending to passport applicants. Traditionally, obtaining or renewing a passport involves visiting a designated office, filling out forms, and navigating through multiple counters, a process that typically consumes at least 45 minutes.
However, with the introduction of an AI support system, these tasks could soon be streamlined.
Under this new system, applicants would only need to store all their necessary information in a digital locker. This innovative approach, expected to roll out by May 2024, promises to significantly reduce processing time to as little as 25 minutes.
Here’s how the AI system would function:
Applicants will be required to provide their mobile number or email ID for the AI support system. Upon submission, an OTP will be sent to the provided contact information.
Once entered, the system will automatically populate the form with the applicant’s information retrieved from the digital locker.
Additionally, it will identify and highlight any spelling errors, offering the opportunity for correction. Furthermore, applicants will have the option to digitally upload their signature, further streamlining the application process.
