Delhi High Court Intervenes: In a major legal development, the Delhi High Court on Tuesday ordered the immediate transfer of activist Sonam Wangchuk from Safdarjung Hospital to Medanta Hospital.
Recognizing the critical nature of his health, the court instructed Medanta to set up a dedicated panel of specialized doctors to oversee his treatment and recovery.
The order was passed following an urgent petition filed by Wangchuk’s wife, Gitanjali Angmo, who approached the court requesting that her husband be moved to a medical facility of their choice for better care.
Key Context: Sonam Wangchuk has been on an indefinite hunger strike since June 28. On July 18, as his condition deteriorated rapidly, Delhi Police evacuated him from Jantar Mantar and rushed him to Safdarjung Hospital.
