NEET UG Admissions 2026: Medical counselling across India has officially moved to its next operational phase as the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) released the detailed timetable for NEET UG 2026.
Governing entry into MBBS, BDS, and B.Sc. Nursing programs, the central framework manages seat distribution for the 15% All India Quota alongside Central Universities, Deemed Institutions, and premier medical centers such as AIIMS, JIPMER, ESIC, and AFMC.
As per news updates from academic desks, academic sessions across all allotted institutions will formally commence on September 8, 2026.
To reduce administrative hassles and eliminate unnecessary travel for students, the committee has introduced a major procedural simplification this session.
Streamlined Verification Framework for Candidates Seeking Upgradation
NEET 2026 registration date: The counselling authority has modified the mandatory compliance steps required after seat allocation.
In previous admission cycles, any candidate allocated a seat regardless of whether they intended to confirm or seek a higher option had to physically visit the designated institute to get their original documents manually verified on site.
According to media reports, aspirants choosing the ‘Float’ option (provisionally holding a seat while competing for better college preferences in subsequent rounds) can now clear document verification digitally.
Candidates only need to upload scanned copies of their certificates directly through the candidate login portal. Physical reporting at institutions is now strictly required only for those who select the ‘Freeze’ option, confirming their final admission choice.

Checklist of Required Documentation
Aspirants are advised to keep both original certificates and clear digital scans ready prior to registering online:
Provisional Seat Allotment Letter issued by MCC
NEET UG Admit Card and Rank/Score Card
Class 10th and 12th Mark sheets along with Passing Certificates
Birth Certificate issued by competent authority (if DOB is missing on the 10th certificate)
8 Recent Passport-Size Photographs (matching the photo used during initial registration)
Official Photo Identity Card (Aadhaar, Passport, PAN Card, or Driving License)
Category / Reservation Proof (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwBD certificates, where valid)
Important Note: According to reporting sources, if there are minor typographical differences in name spellings across certificates, a notarized affidavit must be presented during verification to prevent processing delays.
Key Rules for Participating Institutions
Each participating institution type operates under specific criteria managed through the central portal:
AIIMS Pan-India: 100% of seats are filled directly via MCC counselling. Eligibility mandates a minimum aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English in Class 12th (60% for General/OBC, 50% for SC/ST, and 45% for PwBD). Applicants must turn 17 years old by December 31.
Delhi University Quota: 85% state quota seats are strictly reserved for candidates who completed Class 11th and 12th from recognized institutions inside Delhi.
Banaras Hindu University (BHU): Medical program seats are open nationwide without state domicile restrictions. For B.Sc. Nursing, applicants must be aged between 17 and 25 years, with seat allocation set at 80% for female candidates and 20% for male candidates.
Aligarh Muslim University (AMU): Open seats feature no generic reservation except a 5% horizontal quota for PwBD applicants. Internal institutional quota is restricted to regular AMU students.
AFMC Pune: MCC handles registration only; final selection remains subject to physical fitness and medical screening conducted directly on-site by military medical boards.
ESIC & Nursing Establishments: ESIC seat claims require a valid “Ward of Insured Person” certificate, while B.Sc. Nursing criteria strictly conform to Indian Nursing Council standards.
