“Since the foundation of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, this is the first Ram Navami. Devotees are showing great enthusiasm for the occasion.
After 500 years, Avadhpuri celebrates the first anniversary of Ramlala’s birth in the newly built temple, marking a momentous occasion.
Beginning of Ram Navami With Surya Tilak
During the Abhijeet Muhurta, sunlight was used for Ramlala’s tilak, appearing as a round tilak on the statue’s head after being reflected from a mirror. This four-minute-long Surya Tilak becomes the focal point of the festival.
At this time, the Lord’s child form is worshipped, anointed, and adorned with Panchamrit (a mixture of five items). Ramlala is also dressed in a scarf with gold threads, embellished with vibrant silk embroidery depicting a peacock and Vaishnav symbols. This marks the first change of garments since consecration.
106 types of offerings will be made
Acharya Satyendra Das, the main priest of the Ram Janmbhoomi temple, stated that people are celebrating Ram Navami with great fervor. To accommodate the high number of devotees, the Trust has extended the darshan period. The temple doors will remain open for 20 hours on April 17.
Amidst the enchanting sounds of musical instruments, there will be dance and songs, and 106 different kinds of offerings in gold and silver utensils will be made to the Lord.”
