Must read

Rohit Sharma And Virat Kohli: The Indian Cricket is now under a new coach after India’s triumph in the Caribbean. Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma and the coaching skills of Rahul Dravid, India won their second T20 World Cup after 17 years and an ICC event after 11 years. The Blues won their World T20 title for the first time in 2007 and their last ICC trophy came in 2013.

Both those title wins in 2007 and 2013 came when Mahendra Singh Dhoni was the skipper of the Indian Team and Mahi Bhai is the only captain who has won all three ICC Trophies. However, after that, the fans of Indian Cricket had to wait for 11 long years. In 2023, the Men in Blue reached two finals. But they lost both of them.

India was in the World Test Championship (WTC) final in June 2023 and the ODI World Cup final in November 2023. But the Aussies clinched both of those titles when they defeated India. Now the team under HITMAN ended the title drought and the T20 World Cup 2024 win was celebrated all over the country. The players were also honoured by BCCI and they also met the Prime Minister.

After India’s second title win of the shortest format, two of the best batter of the T20I format have been retired. India has played two series of the twenty overs format and won both of them in some style. But these two players who were part of the T20 World Cup 2024 were not part of those two series.

The two pillars of Indian Cricket across all three forms of the game even announced that they would not feature in the shorter version of the game. Virat Kohli was the player of the match in the finals of that event which was played versus the Proteas in Barbados. He played a fine knock of 76 runs, that allowed India to score a challenging total of 176 runs for the loss of seven wickets.

The King announced his decision to retire from the shortest format in the match presentation and later the skipper, Rohit Sharma under whom India won their second title of the T20I format also said that he will not play the T20 International matches anymore. With that, India’s spin-bowling all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also called it quits from the T20Is.

All these three players who have retired from the shortest format will play the One Day International matches and the Test format for India. India will need these three players in future ICC events of the red ball and ODI format. With Champions Trophy and World Test Championship final events in 2025, India will need the King, HITMAN and Jaddu in their playing XI.

Even the new coach said that Virat and Rohit will get the extended run in the other two forms of the game and they are also included in the ODI series versus Sri Lanka which will start tomorrow Friday, 2nd August 2024 at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Both Virat and Rohit have played with Gautam Gambhir when they were in the Indian Cricket Team. So there shouldn’t be any ego or other issues as to why Kohli and Sharmaji should not be part of Indian Cricket even when GG (Gautam Gambhir) is the head coach.
