The Supreme Court has given its verdict on the petition filed in the NEET UG paper leak case. The court has ordered that the NEET exam will not be conducted again. According to the court, the paper was leaked only in a few locations, so canceling the exam nationwide would be unfair to the rest of the students. Therefore, the court has rejected the demand for a re-examination.

The NEET paper leak occurred only in Hazaribagh and Patna

Last week, the court had already decided not to re-conduct the exam. Following this decision, many petitions were filed requesting a re-examination. While hearing these petitions, the Supreme Court stated that although it believes the paper was leaked, it is not satisfied that the sanctity of the exam was compromised on a large scale. Thus, the wait for many students has come to an end.

NTA Reprimanded

The Supreme Court acknowledged that while there has not been any major irregularity in the exam, the NTA still needs to improve its procedures in the future. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud emphasized that the NEET exam, being a major national exam, requires serious attention. The court also advised the agency to identify its flaws and use technology to prevent incidents like paper leaks in the future.

Former ISRO Chief to Preside

Chief Justice DY Chandrachud has entrusted a 7-member central committee with the task of making the examination process more efficient and analyzing it. This panel includes several experts, including former AIIMS Director Dr. Randeep Guleria, and is headed by former ISRO Chief Dr. K. Radhakrishnan. The central government constituted this expert committee on June 22. The panel has until September 30 to submit its report.
