National Film Awards: Neena Gupta received National Award for the 3rd time, Rishab Shetty won the Best Actor

National Film Awards: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting announced the National Award on August 16. These awards are given to films that received a censor certificate from the Censor Board between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022.

Director-actor Rishabh Shetty’s film Kantara, which emerged from the Kannada film industry in 2022, won the hearts of the audience. After watching the film, people considered it a strong contender for the National Awards. It has now won the Best Popular Film Award.

Additionally, Brahmastra received the Best Film (AVGC – Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comic) award, and Arijit Singh won the Best Singer Award for the same film.

Neena Gupta for Uunchai

Neena Gupta also made her mark at the 70th National Film Awards. She received the Best Supporting Actress Award for her role in the film Uunchai, directed by Sooraj Barjatya. Released in 2022, the film also featured Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, and Parineeti Chopra.

With this win, Neena Gupta has now received three National Awards. Previously, she won the Best First Non-Feature Film Director award for the 1993 film Bazaar Sitaram, and the Best Supporting Actress award for the 1994 film Woh Chhokri. Recently, she has appeared in Badhaai Ho, Shubh Mangal Savdhan, Goodbye, Vadh, and Lust Stories 2.
