The case is from Jhargram in West Bengal where a wild female elephant was set on fire. It is being claimed that the local people used sharp sticks and fireballs to drive the elephant away. Let us tell you that these things have been banned by the Supreme Court, despite this they were used.

What is the entire Scenario

On the morning of 16 August four wild elephants entered the Jhargram Raj College campus. A large number of people gathered there to see them. During which a villager died there. After this incident, members of the Hula Party organized by the Forest Department attacked the elephant with a burning iron. Due to which the female elephant was seriously injured and died.

A similar incident happened in 2020

A similar incident was seen in Karela in 2020. Where a pregnant elephant was fed with firecrackers covered in a pineapple. After which she sat with her mouth in water for three days. But due to poison and pain, she and her unborn child died. After this incident, the Supreme Court said that ‘fireballs’ are not be used.

Suvendu targeted TMC

BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has attacked the TMC government on this matter. He said that let alone the safety of women, Mamata Banerjee’s incompetent administration is not able to provide security to even an elephant.
