However, the venue for the Women’s ICC event, which will be played in the shortest format, has been decided to move away from the earlier location. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to change the venue for the World Cup event of the shortest format of the Women’s. The Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will start from 3rd October 2024 to 20th October 2024.

The ICC mega event of the shortest format of the Women’s will now be hosted in Dubai and Sharjah because the current situation in Bangladesh isn’t good and the visiting teams have said that they will not travel to Bangladesh. So the ICC asked India to host this championship later this year in October. But the Indian Board, BCCI has refused to host this championship of the women’s.

The Cricket Board of Bangladesh (BCB) has agreed to the decision to move the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). However, they will still have the hosting rights of this year’s women’s ICC mega event of the shortest format. Even the Aussie great Alyssa Healy said this is not the right time to play the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 in Bangladesh.

After the BCCI said no to host the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. The International Cricket Council had no other options even though Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe agreed to host this T20 International championship of the women’s. But the ICC gave their final nod to the United Arab Emirates because of the many reasons and alignments.

The 2021 T20 World Cup of Men’s was played in the United Arab Emirates and BCCI was the official host even when that edition wasn’t played in India. Just like that Bangladesh Cricket Board will remain as the official hosts even when the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will be played in the UAE.

The international violence and the political turmoil in Bangladesh prompted the International Cricket Council to shift the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 to the United Arab Emirates. Many board members raised concerns because this ICC mega event of the shortest format was in Bangladesh and many also thought that this time is not right to host a big ICC event in that country.
