Sheikh Hasina: 31 Cases Have Been Registered Against Sheikh Hasina So Far, Cases of Murder, Massacre and Kidnapping

9 cases were registered against former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday. Since the formation of the new government in the country, 31 cases have been registered against her so far. These include 26 murders, 4 massacres and one kidnapping case.

According to the Bangla newspaper Daily Star, Mufti Harun Izhar Chaudhary, secretary of Hefazat-e-Islam, an organization of Bangladesh, has filed a complaint against Hasina in the International Crimes Tribunal. According to the complaint, Hefazat-e-Islam activists were protesting in Dhaka on 5 May 2013 demanding a law against blasphemy.

During this, the police used force on the violent mob. 27 people were killed in this. After 11 years, a case of massacre has been registered against Hasina in this case. Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wajid Joy, daughter Saima Wajid Putul and sister Sheikh Rehana have also been made accused in this.

Apart from these, complaints have been filed against 23 other people close to Hasina including Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader, former minister Rashid Khan Menon, former army chief Aziz Ahmed.

Sheikh Hasina: Four cases registered in International Crimes Tribunal

So far, four cases have been registered against Hasina in the tribunal. Three of these four cases are related to the violence in the recent student movement. A man named Mohammad Abul Hasan had filed a complaint of genocide against Hasina on Monday. Abul Hasan’s son Shahriar Hasan Alvi died during the student movements. Earlier also, the father of Arif Ahmed, a class 9 student, had also filed a complaint against Hasina in the tribunal. Arif was shot by the police during the demonstration on August 5. He died 2 days later.

Tribunal officer Ataur Rahman said, “We have registered the complaint and started the investigation.”

Sheikh Hasina established the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) in 2010. This tribunal was established to investigate the violence that took place during Bangladesh’s independence movement in 1971.

The interim government will conduct an investigation under the supervision of the UN

The interim government of Bangladesh said that it will conduct an investigation under the supervision of the United Nations (UN) on the complaints lodged against Hasina. Interim government legal advisor Prof. Asif Nazrul said that Sheikh Hasina had the responsibility of giving command, so her role in the deaths during the student reservation protests will be investigated.
