Reason for Passport Cancellation

Following this decision, Sheikh Hasina’s diplomatic passport has also been canceled. The reasons behind this move have been outlined by sources within the interim government. The primary reason cited is the criminal cases registered against Sheikh Hasina. Reports indicate that more than 44 criminal cases have been filed against the former Prime Minister, with the number potentially increasing. In this context, canceling her diplomatic passport is seen as a necessary measure to impose restrictions on her. Additionally, the passports of other MPs issued during her tenure have also been canceled.

It should be noted that after the violent anti-reservation protests in Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina was forced to flee Dhaka. Subsequently, protesters vandalized and looted the Prime Minister’s residence. Newspapers have confirmed these events. After fleeing Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina sought refuge in India, landing at Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad. She is currently residing in Delhi. No statement has yet been made following the cancellation of her diplomatic passport.
