A few days ago, during a Durga Visarjan procession in Bahraich, Ramgopal Mishra was shot and killed by members of a particular community. This heinous crime led to an intense manhunt for the suspects, eventually culminating in the encounter.

Encounter in Bahraich: Nepal Connection of accused

In the Maharajganj area of Mahsi, Bahraich, the situation has stabilized. However, on Thursday, the police and STF engaged in an encounter with the suspects involved in Ramgopal Mishra’s murder. Reports suggest that the accused had links to Nepal and were attempting to escape across the border. This led to a shootout with the authorities.

Prime Accused Injured in Gunfight

The encounter took place near the Handa Basehri canal, close to the Nepal border, where the main accused, Sarfaraz, and his accomplice Talib, were shot in the legs by the police. Both men had been trying to flee after being involved in the murder of Ramgopal Mishra. Their condition is reported to be critical.

Failed Escape to Nepal

Sources reveal that both Sarfaraz and Talib, along with three other associates, were attempting to cross the border into Nepal on motorcycles. When the police gave chase, the suspects opened fire on the STF and police teams. In retaliation, both accused were shot in the legs during the ensuing gunfight.

Nepal Connection and Internet Suspension

The primary accused is believed to have connections in Nepal, prompting Uttar Pradesh Police and STF to coordinate with Nepalese authorities. Meanwhile, internet services in Bahraich were suspended for the fifth consecutive day on Thursday to prevent the spread of rumors. Police have urged the public to remain calm and not trust misleading information.
