India vs New Zealand: India has batted splendidly well in their second innings of the ongoing Test match between India vs New Zealand at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. After scoring their lowest total of 46 runs at home in the 1st innings, The Men in Blue have reached closer to the trailed score of the visitors, New Zealand. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant slammed their half-centuries while Sarfaraz Khan scored his maiden century in the red ball format for India.

Pant and Sarfraz were unbeaten when the rains and the wet outfield delayed the match proceedings on day four of the 1st Test match of this three-match series of the red ball format. Pant has been India’s key man especially more in the Test matches rather than the other forms of this gentlemen’s game. He even scored a well-made 109 runs against Bangladesh in his comeback match of the red ball format.

Pant and Sarfraz have taken India to the position of strength in this Test match. Rishabh was also India’s highest run-getter in the 1st innings when the whole team of Men in Blue just amassed 46 runs and Pant had scored 20 runs in that. In the second innings, the flamboyant wicketkeeper-batsman scored a good half-century and even shared a partnership with Sarfaraz Khan.

Pant came at the crease on the morning of day four today. The wicketkeeper-batsman slammed his 12th half-century in the red ball form of the game for India. Pant also went past the legendary wicketkeeper-batsman, Mahendra Singh Dhoni when he scored 2500 runs in the red ball format. Mahi Bhai achieved this feat in 69 innings while Pant got to this milestone in 62 just innings and he holds the record of being the fastest Indian wicketkeeper to smash 2500 and more runs in Test Cricket.

Since Rishabh Pant’s debut in the red ball form of the game, India has got a match-winner behind the stumps. He has been a consistent performer for the Men in Blue in the Test matches and Pant has been scoring runs even in the overseas test matches as well. Pant has a century in South Africa, where no Indian wicketkeeper has scored a ton. With that, he has also smashed centuries in Australia and England.

Farokh Engineer scored 2500 runs in the test matches in 82 innings. Later Mahendra Singh Dhoni went past this record when he scored that many or more runs in just 69 innings of the red ball format. Today Rishabh Pant has overtaken Farokh Engineer and Mahendra Singh Dhoni to score 2500 runs in just 62 innings of a Test match for India. Pant is the future of Indian cricket and that too in all three forms of the game.
