Suzuki Recalls 1,056 Hayabusa Vehicles

Suzuki Motorcycle India has recalled its most popular sports bike, Hayabusa, today (28 October) due to a technical fault. The company said that the recall was issued due to problems in the front brake of the third-generation model of Hayabusa.

This recall includes 1,056 units. The Japanese automobile company has provided this information in a regulatory filing. This model has been sold in the Indian market since 2021 and is one of the most popular superbikes in India. The superbike competes with the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R.

Suzuki – There is a possibility of an accident due to increased front brake lever play

Suzuki told the market regulator that the front brake lever play of the Hayabusa sold in the Indian market increased, causing the lever to touch the throttle grip. This increases the braking distance. The bike’s front brake level play can increase to such an extent that the lever can touch the handlebar, which can lead to an accident.

The company will replace the defective parts for free

Suzuki Motorcycle India will contact the affected customers. Vehicle owners will be informed about replacing the defective part. No fee will be charged to the customer for this. Customers can also check for themselves whether their bike is included in the recall by visiting the company’s official website.

If the bike is included in the recall, then you can book an appointment. Earlier, the previous generation Suzuki Hayabusa had a braking problem, which was fixed with Brembo Stylema calipers and 10mm larger discs.

Suzuki launched the updated model last year

The new Suzuki Hayabusa was launched last year in 3 dual-tone colour options – Metallic Matte Black No. 2 with Glass Sparkle Black, Metallic Thunder Gray with Candy Daring Red and Pearl Brilliant White with Pearl Vigor Blue. The LED headlamps, new side mirrors, turn indicators and position lights present in it give it a premium look. It has a 1340cc 4-stroke, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled DOHC, inline-four engine and the starting price is Rs 16.91 lakh (ex-showroom).

Big cases of car recall in the country

  • Baleno and WagonR recall: In July 2020, Maruti recalled 1,34,885 units of WagonR and Baleno. These models were manufactured between November 15, 2018 and October 15, 2019. The company recalled the vehicles due to a defect in the fuel pump.
  • Maruti EECO recall: In November 2020, the company recalled 40,453 units of EECO. The company took this decision due to the missing standard symbol on the headlamp of the vehicle. This recall included EECO manufactured between November 4, 2019 and February 25, 2020.
  • Mahindra pickup recall: In 2021, Mahindra & Mahindra recalled 29,878 units of its commercial pickup vehicle. The company had said that a fluid pipe needs to be replaced in some pickup vehicles manufactured between January 2020 and February 2021.
  • Mahindra Thar Recall: Mahindra & Mahindra recalled 1577 units of the diesel variant of its offroad SUV Thar in February 2021. The company had said that these parts got damaged due to a fault in the machine of the plant. All the units were produced between September 7 and December 25, 2020.
  • Royal Enfield Recall: In May 2021, Royal Enfield recalled 2,36,966 units of Bullet 350, Classic 350 and Meteor 350 due to the possibility of a short circuit. All these were manufactured between December 2020 and April 2021.

When a company calls back a product sold by it, it is called a recall. A company decides to recall when there is a defect in its product. During the recall process, it wants to fix the defect in the product. So that in future the customer does not have to face any problem with the product.

Regarding the defects in the car, the company first has to give data to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). In this, it has to be told how many per cent of people are facing problems with car defects. After this, SIAM approves. The company fixes a time to fix the defect. If a customer’s car is outside the city where he bought it, then he can also get it repaired at the nearest service centre of that city.
