Delhi Elections: The Delhi Assembly elections are just around the corner, and ahead of the polls, Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal has made a significant move.
Kejriwal has announced a major initiative for senior citizens in Delhi. He revealed that 80,000 new senior citizens will receive pensions in the city. Kejriwal also mentioned that all pending work in Delhi will be resumed and completed.
Arvind Kejriwal held a press conference on Monday and made a significant announcement for senior citizens. He stated that the government will provide pensions to 80,000 new senior citizens. Kejriwal mentioned that now a total of 530,000 senior citizens in Delhi will receive pensions.
How Much Pension Is Provided?
Arvind Kejriwal shared that currently, senior citizens aged 60 to 69 receive ₹2,000 per month, while those above 70 years old get ₹2,500 per month.
Kejriwal mentioned that this decision has been approved by the Cabinet and is already in effect. He also revealed that 10,000 new applications for pensions have already been received.
Delhi Elections: Choose a Single-Engine Government – Kejriwal
In a press conference, Arvind Kejriwal targeted the BJP and said, “Wherever there is a double engine government, the elderly get less pension, but here in Delhi, there is a single engine government, they get a pension of Rs 2,500. So choose a single engine government, not a double engine one.”
Kejriwal accused the BJP of stopping the pension of the elderly when he was in jail. He called it a sin. Kejriwal further said that after being released from jail, he has started the pension again.
