Types of Cyber Frauds:

  1. Digital Arrest Scam: Scammers pretend to be police or government officials, connect via video calls, and claim the victim is under arrest. They then intimidate the victim for days to obtain bank details, UPI passwords, or OTPs to steal money.
  2. Credit Card Scam: Fraudsters pose as bank employees, claiming your credit card reward points are expiring. They ask for your card details and OTP, then steal money.
  3. Pending Bill Threats: Scammers send messages or call, threatening to cut electricity unless an outstanding bill is paid. However, no official department demands payment in this manner.

Tips to Stay Safe:

  1. Verify Caller Numbers: Banks never call from 10-digit mobile numbers. Avoid sharing personal details if you receive such calls. Government or private organizations also don’t send notices via WhatsApp or Telegram.
  2. Avoid Using Public Wi-Fi for Banking: Never log in to net banking using public Wi-Fi at airports, malls, or other places, as your account could be hacked.
  3. Beware of Links and QR Codes: Don’t click on links or download ZIP files sent by unknown sources. Be cautious while scanning QR codes, as these can compromise your device.

By following these tips, you can protect yourself from cyber frauds and keep your money safe.
