Now not only adults but children too will get a PAN card. There is no age limit for making a PAN card in Section 160 of the Income Tax Act. That is, now minor children below 18 years of age will also get a PAN. Meaning, if parents want to make their children financially secure for the future, or want to make them nominees in their mutual funds, shares, or any other investment, then it is necessary to make a PAN card in this regard.
Why It Is Important
Usually, to avoid tax, people link the income of minors with the income of parents, but if children below 18 years of age earn income through job or business or any other professional way, then they come under the category of tax payers and for this it is necessary to have a card. Apart from financial security, a PAN card is also needed to avail scholarships or government schemes.
