Most of the states of North India are currently facing severe cold. The IMD has issued an orange alert for severe cold wave in the lower hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh.
The local Meteorological Department has also issued an orange alert for severe cold wave conditions at isolated places in the lower hilly and plain areas of four out of 12 districts of Himachal Pradesh in the next two days.
Cold Wave Torture in Himachal Pradesh
The weather department has predicted severe cold at isolated places in Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur and Mandi districts. Cold wave is also likely to prevail in Kangra, while frost is likely in Kangra and Kullu districts till Saturday.
Meanwhile, severe cold continues in Bilaspur, Una, Sunder Nagar and Hamirpur are also in the grip of severe cold. Light fog was observed in some parts of Mandi.
According to Meteorological Department data, Tabo in tribal district Lahaul and Spiti was the coldest place during the night, recording a minimum temperature of -6.5 degrees Celsius.
Kukumseri recorded -4.6 degrees Celsius, Manali -2.1 degrees Celsius, Hamirpur 1.3 degrees Celsius, Sunder Nagar 0.5 degrees Celsius, Una 0.4 degrees Celsius and Bilaspur 2.2 degrees Celsius.
Shimla and its suburbs remained relatively warm, with the state capital recording a minimum temperature of 7.6 degrees Celsius, Jubbarhatti 8.3 degrees Celsius and Kufri 6.9 degrees Celsius.
The Meteorological Department has advised people to stay warm, protect their animals and take necessary measures to protect the crops from frost and cold.
Between October 1 and December 17, Himachal Pradesh witnessed a 96% deficit in post-monsoon rainfall, with the state receiving only 2.3 mm of rainfall against the normal of 60.5 mm.
The rainfall deficiency was recorded as follows: Chamba 100%, Sirmaur, Bilaspur and Kullu 99%, Kangra and Solan 97%, Shimla 96%, Lahaul and Spiti 94%, Kinnaur and Hamirpur 93%, Mandi 92% and Una district 78%.
Minimum Temperatures Dip Below 5°C in These Rajasthan Districts
There is severe cold in many areas of Rajasthan. According to the Meteorological Department, there is severe cold in many areas of the state and the minimum temperature has been recorded below normal at many places.
According to the department data, Karauli recorded the lowest night temperature of 1.3°C, followed by Fatehpur (2.5°C), Sangaria (3.4°C), Sikar (3.7°C), Churu (4°C), Alwar (4.2°C), Ganganagar and Dholpur (4.8°C), Nagaur (5.1°C), Anta (5.2°C), Sirohi (5.3°C), and Bhilwara and Pilani (5.4°C).
According to the data of the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature was recorded below normal in Kota, Ajmer, Jaipur and Udaipur divisions. The IMD has forecast that due to a weak western disturbance, the minimum temperature may fall slightly in many districts of Rajasthan after the next 24 hours.
