Indian Stock Market Closes in Red Again, Sensex Falls Below 73,000

Indian Stock Market: The Indian stock market once again closed in the red today. On Tuesday, the BSE Sensex closed at 72,989.93 points, down 96.01 points (0.13%). At the same time, the NSE Nifty 50 index also closed at 22,082.65 points, down 36.65 points (0.17%).

During today’s trading session, the Sensex hit an intraday low of 72,633.54 points, while the Nifty 50 also slipped below the 22,000 mark to reach 21,964.60 points. It is worth noting that the market opened in the red and continued to trade with a decline throughout the session.

Indian Stock Market: SBI Tops Gainers, Bajaj Finserv Leads Losers

On Tuesday, out of the 30 companies listed on the Sensex, only 11 stocks closed in the green, while the remaining 19 closed in the red. Similarly, in the Nifty 50 index, 22 stocks closed with gains, while 28 stocks closed with losses.

Among the companies listed on the Sensex, the biggest gainer was State Bank of India (SBI), which closed with a gain of 2.98%. On the other hand, the biggest loser was Bajaj Finserv, which fell 2.70% by the end of the trading session.

Which Stocks Performed the Best and Worst?

Among Sensex-listed companies, several stocks closed with gains: Zomato rose 2.23%, TCS 1.04%, HDFC Bank 0.78%, ICICI Bank 0.68%, Power Grid 0.67%, Tata Steel 0.61%, Adani Ports 0.40%, Larsen & Toubro 0.35%, IndusInd Bank 0.34% and UltraTech Cement 0.33%.

However, several stocks witnessed massive losses. HCL Tech fell 2.40%, Nestle India 1.82%, Asian Paints 1.78%, Infosys 1.47%, Sun Pharma 1.37%, Bharti Airtel 1.13%, Hindustan Unilever 1.10%, Titan 1.09%, Maruti Suzuki 1.08% and Reliance 0.92%.
