In a boost to the BJP on the day of the third phase of polling for the Lok Sabha polls, actor Shekhar Suman, recently seen in Netflix’s Heeramandi, joined the party.
Addressing the media in the presence of senior BJP leaders, at the party headquarters, Suman said he did not know until yesterday that he would be taking this step. He further added that many things in life happen knowingly or unknowingly and thanked God for directing him to join the party.
Shekhar Suman thanked PM Modi
He also expressed gratitude to BJP national president JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Suman has, however, previously run in a Lok Sabha election, so this is not his first political experience. Shekhar Suman ran on a Congress ticket for the Patna Sahib Lok Sabha seat in Bihar in the 2009 general election. However, legendary actor Shatrughan Sinha, who was running on a BJP platform, defeated him in this election.
He emphasized the importance of action over words as he said: “You have to follow what Lord Ram has thought I’m just thinking about the nation; I’m not thinking negatively. A guy is only as good as his words, but only to that extent. However, there’s a distinction between speaking and acting. I’m capable of giving a lengthy speech, but it won’t mean anything until I take action.”
Debut In Film Industry
Shekhar Suman debuted in the film industry with the collaboration of Rekha in the film Utsav. He has appeared in several films, such as Anubhav, Bhoomi, Tridev, Naache Mayuri, and Sansar. Additionally, he has made appearances in several well-known TV series, including Carry on Shekhar, Movers n Shakers, Andaz, Amar Prem, Dekh Bhai Dekh, Reporter, and Kabhi Idhar Kabhi Udhar.
The Great Indian Comedy Show was another program he hosted. Shekhar Suman directed the movie Heartless in 2014. His son Adhyayan Suman played the protagonist in the medical thriller Heartless
