The Adani Group, known as one of the wealthiest conglomerates in India, is extending its airport business not only within India but also internationally. Gautam Adani, one of India’s richest individuals, has launched a new company in Kenya.
New Company in Kenya
The new company in Kenya is named Adani Airports Infrastructure Private Limited. This company is fully owned by Adani Enterprises, a major entity within the Adani Group. Adani Enterprises shared this news with the stock markets regarding their new venture in Kenya.
Investment Discussions in Kenya
Adani Enterprises has announced that discussions are ongoing about investing in the airport business in Kenya. The subsidiary’s goal is to take over, operate, and manage airports. Currently, the Adani Group is in talks about investing in Nairobi Airport, which is located in the capital city of Kenya.
Adani Group’s First Airport Outside India
If Adani Group proceeds with investing in Nairobi Airport, it will become the first airport investment by the group outside India. However, the timing of this business expansion might be challenging, as the group is currently facing local opposition. Residents in Kenya are protesting against Adani Group’s investment.
Total Number of Airports
Whether Adani Group will successfully invest in Nairobi Airport remains to be seen. However, the group currently manages seven airports in India. These include Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow, Jaipur International Airport, Mangalore International Airport, Guwahati’s famous Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai. Additionally, they are also developing a new airport in Navi Mumbai.
