Akhilesh Yadav Gives Ticket to Lalu Yadav’s Son-in-Law, to Contest Lok Sabha Elections from Kannauj

Samajwadi Party has released another list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, which includes candidates from Kannauj and Ballia constituencies.

Akhilesh Yadav has nominated his relative and son-in-law of Lalu Prasad Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav from the Kannauj seat and Sanatan Pandey from Ballia.

There was a lot of speculation within the Samajwadi Party about who would contest from Kannauj, there were rumours that SP chief Akhilesh Yadav might contest.

However, it has now been confirmed that Akhilesh will not contest the Lok Sabha elections this time, instead opting to nominate his nephew from his former seat.

Tej Pratap Has Been MP from MainpuriLok Sabha Elections

Tej Pratap Yadav previously served as an MP for Mainpuri. This opportunity came when Mulayam Singh Yadav, often called Netaji, contested from both Azamgarh and Mainpuri seats in the 2014 elections and won both seats.

Subsequently, he vacated the Mainpuri seat, and in the ensuing by-election, the Samajwadi Party nominated Tej Pratap. It was his first entry into the country’s highest parliamentary body.

However, Tej Pratap was not given a ticket in the 2019 elections and Netaji contested from Mainpuri. After Mulayam Singh’s death, Dimple Yadav won the by-election on this seat.

Lok Sabha Elections: Will Compete With BJP’s Subrat Pathak

Tej Pratap Yadav will face BJP candidate and sitting MP Subrat Pathak in Kannauj. Earlier there was speculation that Akhilesh Yadav himself would contest from this seat. However, now all these speculations have come to an end.

Ticket from Ballia to Sanatan Pandey

Apart from Kannauj, the Samajwadi Party has also announced its candidate for the Ballia seat. SP has fielded Sanatan Pandey in Ballia. Sanatan Pandey has been MLA from Chilkahar seat of Ballia.

He was also made a minister in the SP government. Sanatan will face BJP candidate and former PM Chandrashekhar’s son Neeraj Shekhar, who has been elected MP from here twice.
