India has lost just one Test match in the year 2024 so far. That loss came against England and the Men in Blue have also lost just once in the shortest format. That loss was against the Zimbabweans under the leadership skills of Shubman Gill, who captained a team for the first time in his career. However, New Zealanders were outplayed by Sri Lanka in the recent two-match Test series which they lost by two nil.

The sixth-ranked team of the World Test Championship cycle of 2023 to 2025, New Zealand, will take on India, a team who is ranked number 1 on the points table. The Kiwis were the first-ever champions of WTC when they won the final against the Men in Blue in 2021. But since then, New Zealand hasn’t qualified for the finals of this Test event even once and India is favourites to storm into their third back-to-back finals in 2025.
