Five IAF personnel were injured in this attack after which they were taken to the hospital for treatment. One soldier was martyred during treatment there and the condition of the rest is stable.
According to officials, the terrorists had fired at the Indian Air Force convoy. This attack was carried out in the Sanai village of Surankot. At present several contingents of police and the Indian Army are present there and a search of the area has been started. Garud Special Force of the Indian Air Force has also been deployed at the incident site.
Injured soldiers were airlifted in Jammu and Kashmir
According to security officials, 5 soldiers were injured in the attack. They were immediately airlifted to the Command Hospital in Udhampur for treatment. An Indian Air Force vehicle convoy was attacked by militants in the Poonch district of J&K, near Shahsitar. Cordon and search operations are underway presently in the area by local military units. The convoy has been secured, and further investigation is under progress.

At the time of this attack, the convoy of Air Force vehicles was going towards nearby Sanai Top in the Surankote area.
It is suspected that the same terrorist group was involved in this attack which had ambushed the soldiers near Bufliaz on December 21 last year, in which four soldiers were killed and other soldiers were injured.
