AUS Vs IND: India and Australia are the two teams who have The Toughest Rivalry across the three forms of the game. India has won a red ball series on the two previous tours Down Under, and in this ongoing series, the Men in Blue will be eyeing their third back-to-back series win in the Aussie Nation.
As we all know, India has won a match, even though they were enforced a follow-on. That red ball match was played against the Aussies in 2001 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid shared a mammoth partnership that took India to a match-winning position.
Then, it was Harbhajan Singh who picked up a hat trick with the red cherry which sealed a famous win for the Sourav Ganguly-led Indian team. Today we are going to tell our readers that the Men in Blue performed exceptionally well in Australia during their 2003/2004 tour Down Under and won a match when the situation didn’t favoured them at one stage.
AUS Vs IND: VVS Laxman Did It Again For India On This Day In 2003 Test Match Played at The Adelaide Oval –
India’s VVS and Dravid were the chief architects in Kolkata in the red ball match played at the Eden Gardens. This middle-order duo of the Indian team shared 376 runs stand to put the team in the pole position. This partnership is still the third highest stand for the country in the red ball matches. On this day in 2003, VVS and Rahul repeat the magic again for the Men in Blue. They were the ones who bailed India out once again just like the 2001 match in Kolkata.
The Aussies batted first and scored a massive 1st innings score of 556 runs. The hosts of that Test match, Australia, reached that score mainly because of Ricky Pointing who scored 242 runs. The Aussie bowlers did a good job as well.
They reduced India for 85 runs for the loss of four wickets. But India was blessed to have two of the finest middle order batsmen at the crease who were used to bat in those conditions. VVS and Rahul again added more than three hundred runs stand in this match on this day in 2003.
Laxman and Dtavid shared a partnership of 303 runs to give India another famous win against the Aussies and that too at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide. Dravid scored a magnifiecent 233 runs and he is still the second Indian batter to score a double ton in the Aussie nation.
VVS Laxman scored 148 runs and with the ball, in the second innings, it was Ajit Agarkar who helped India to cement their strong position in the Test match played at Adelaide Oval. Agarkar picked up six wickets to his name which bundled out the Aussies for just 191 runs.
India had a score of 230 runs to win the second Test match. It was Rahul Dravid yet again who came out with a full flow. After his double ton in the 1st innings, The Wall smashed unbeaten 72 runs in India’s second innings, which allowed the team to win this match by four wickets.
