While the Aussies also had a great tournament in this edition. The 2021 T20 World Cup winners, Australia, had won all the games they had played. But yesterday morning, Marsh and Co had a shocking loss against the men of Afghans. The mighty Aussies couldn’t chase a score of 148 runs against Rashid Khan’s men and lost that match by 21 runs. Today’s game will be the last and most important one for India and Australia in the Super 8 round of the T20 World Cup 2024.

India will go in this match as the second undefeated side. South Africa is another team who are yet to lose a match in this edition of the T20 World Cup 2024. This morning they defeated the West Indies side by three wickets due to the DLS method and also booked their place in the semi-finals of this edition of the shortest format.

England is another team who are the first side to qualify for the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2024. The defending champions had lost two matches in this edition, one against Australia in the league stage and another one versus the Proteas in the Super 8 round. But a ten-wicket win over the United States of America allowed them to be in the last four ranking of this edition.

India had a good win over Afghanistan and Bangladesh in the Super 8 round. Their batting was decent against the Bangla Tigers. Hardik, Pant and Dube were the top run-getters for India in that match. However, India’s bowling has been superb and they have successfully defended the totals which they have posted.

Against the power-hitters of Australia, the bowlers will have to come good. But the worry is in the batting. The set batter needs to bat till the 20-over mark because that batsman can make a difference in the end. Apart from Suresh Raina, no other Indian batter has scored a century in the T20 World Cup.

Today, if a set batter bats till the last over then, he can go past the three-figured mark. Virat Kohli will be the player to watch out for in this match. When India played against Australia in the 2016 edition, which was eight years ago, the King played a gem of an innings in Mohali and that took India through to the semi-finals of that edition.

While Boom Boom Bumrah is the bowler to watch out for, Jasprit has had a good tournament till now. He has been consistent and also looks in fine rhythm. If he delivers for India today also, then Australia’s journey will be over in this T20 World Cup 2024 because Bumrah is the real match-winner for the Men in Blue and his spell against Pakistan in this edition proves that right.

Playing XI – India will not make any changes – Rohit Sharma (c), Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah.

AUS Vs IND: Team’s Preview Of The Mighty Aussies

Australia will look to come up from the shocking loss which they faced against Afghanistan at Saint Vincent. Their batting was the main problem and that’s why they couldn’t chase down a decent score of 149 runs. Apart from Glenn Maxwell’s 59 runs none of the batters were able to handle Naib, Naveen, Nabi, Rashid and Omarzai’s red-hot spell which blew the mighty Aussies away.

At the start as well, the bowlers of Australia didn’t pick early wickets. Gurbaz and Zadran had put on an opening partnership of 118 runs. Australia needs to make those early inroads in the game versus India today. Virat and Rohit aren’t in the best of forms. So they will have to add Mitchell Starc in their playing XI who can be deadly with the new ball.

Mitchell Starc did well in the Indian Premier League 2024 season for the champion team of Kolkata Knight Riders. Starc, who is still the most expensive player of that cash-rich league tournament didn’t have a good tournament at the start. But in the second half of this season, the Aussie pacer made a brilliant comeback and steered the Purple Army to become the trophy winners for the third time.

Cummins Vs Kohli, Rohit Vs Starc, Bumrah Vs Warner and Maxwell Vs Axar will be the battles to watch out for in today’s match. Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Marcus Stoinis and Adam Zampa will be the threats for India with the bat and ball respectively. But India also cannot forget Travis Head who stood tall for the Aussies in two ICC finals in 2023 which India lost.

Playing XI – Starc might come in the place of Agar. David Warner, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh (c), Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Tim David, Matthew Wade (wk), Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc/Ashton Agar, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood.
