At present, air pollution has become a serious problem. Along with the increasing population of India, the number of vehicles is also increasing. Due to which air pollution is also increasing. In such a situation, the Energy Transition Advisory Committee has recommended a ban on all diesel vehicles by 2027. It has also been said to promote electric vehicles in its place.
Where will the ban be imposed
This ban will be implemented only in those cities where the pollution level is high or the population is more than one million. Apart from this, this ban will also be imposed on diesel vehicles older than 10 years. This ban can also be applied to some petrol-powered vehicles.
Reason for ban on diesel vehicles
Nitrogen oxide and other harmful gases emitted from diesel vehicles increase air pollution. Therefore, the government is planning to ban it, which will reduce the country’s oil imports and improve air pollution. Along with this, the government is also making policies to promote electric vehicles.
What will be the impact
In India, diesel is used for two-fifths of the total fuel, of which 80 percent is used. According to the data of the year 2013, the sale of diesel cars was 48 percent. But in 2021-22 it has come down to less than 20 percent. In such a situation, if these vehicles are banned, then the automobile industry can be deeply affected.
Should you buy a diesel car?
If you are thinking of buying a diesel car, then you should keep in mind that it is going to be banned in the coming time. Along with this, recently Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has also warned the manufacturers of these cars to curb the production of these cars.
