Congress’s Allegation Against BJP
The Congress party had previously targeted the BJP, claiming that Prime Minister Modi and Adani were essentially the same. In response, the BJP vehemently rejected this claim, with Sambit Patra stating, “Rahul Gandhi and George Soros are one soul, just in different bodies.” He alleged that Rahul Gandhi is working with anti-India forces to destabilize the country and linked him to George Soros and the Open Society Foundations.
Accusations of Ties with Soros and Anti-India Groups

Patra specifically mentioned Salil Shetty, Vice President of the Open Society Foundations, who had participated in the Bharat Jodo Yatra, as evidence of this connection. The BJP argued that these connections show that Rahul Gandhi and Soros share the same agenda to hinder India’s growth.
Alleged Meetings with Anti-India Journalists
Patra referred to Rahul Gandhi’s alleged meetings with Musfikul Fazal Ansari, a member of OCCRP and an anti-India journalist. Additionally, the BJP mentioned Rahul’s meeting with Anand Mangale, another OCCRP member accused of allegedly funding Sharjeel Imam, a UAPA case suspect. Citing the French newspaper Mediapart, Patra claimed that OCCRP is funded by Soros’s organization and produces anti-India reports that tarnish the country’s image.
The BJP also criticized the opposition for raising issues like Adani, Pegasus, and the BBC documentary right before Parliament sessions. The party questioned whether these allegations will spark a new debate in Indian politics or merely remain a political tactic.
