With the growing technology, incidents of cyber fraud are also on the rise. Cybercriminals are adopting new and innovative methods every day to trick people who lack technical knowledge and extract money from them. To facilitate and raise awareness among common citizens, the Government of India has introduced a new initiative. The Ministry of Telecommunications has launched the portal “Chakshu” under the “Sanchaar Saathi” platform, where fraud cases can be reported.
How to File a Complaint on “Chakshu”
Fraud complaints via messages or calls can be reported on the “Chakshu” link available under the “Citizen-Centric Services” section of the Sanchaar Saathi portal. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open Your Phone’s Browser: Go to the browser on your phone and type “Chakshu.”
- Continue: Click on the “Continue” option that appears. This will open a form.
- Fill Out the Form: Provide details related to the fraud, such as the medium of fraud, the subject matter, time, date, and your personal information including your name and mobile number.
- Upload Evidence: Upload the screenshot of the call or message related to the fraud.
- Verify: After filling out the form, click on the “Verify” button.
Once you do this, your telecom regulator will check the number. If any suspicious activity is detected, the number will be disabled, preventing it from making or receiving calls or messages.
Additional Features
The portal offers several other services as well:
- Report a Lost Phone: If your phone is lost, you can report it from the comfort of your home.
- Verify Use of Aadhar Card: As Aadhar cards are frequently used for various services, you can check if your Aadhar details are being misused.
- Report International Calls: If you receive any international calls from an Indian number, you can also report them here.
