As per the Supreme Court’s directive, CAQM had issued a revised GRAP schedule on December 13, 2024. According to this schedule, if the Air Quality Index (AQI) exceeded 350, measures under Stage III and Stage IV were to be implemented immediately.

Restrictions Were Relaxed in February

As per Supreme Court directions, the restrictions were eased in February 2025. Subsequently, given the improvement in Delhi’s air quality, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) suspended Phase II of GRAP across the NCR on February 24, 2025.

During the review meeting, the Subcommittee of CAQM decided to withdraw all the measures implemented under Phase I, in view of the significant improvement in air quality in Delhi-NCR.

CAQM to Monitor the Situation

However, to maintain better air quality levels, all state governments and concerned agencies must ensure compliance with legal orders and guidelines. It will be important to take appropriate measures in the upcoming season, as it may impact air quality in the next few months. The Commission said that CAQM will regularly monitor the implementation of these air quality control measures.
