In the month of April itself, severe heat has started wreaking havoc in Delhi-NCR, due to which people are troubled. Today, i.e. 8 April (Tuesday) was the hottest day of this season.
The maximum temperature in Safdarjung reached 41.0 degrees Celsius. Just a day before (Monday), the mercury had crossed 40 degrees Celsius. For the last few days, the temperature is reaching record levels.
Delhi: IMD Confirms No Rainfall Expected
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Safdarjung weather station recorded a maximum temperature of 41.0 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.
Aya Nagar and Palam also recorded temperatures of 40.4 degrees Celsius and 39.6 degrees Celsius respectively.
The minimum temperature at Palam at night was recorded at 25.2 degrees Celsius – 5.2 degrees above normal. The lowest minimum temperature was recorded at 21.0 degrees Celsius at Lodhi Road, though it still remained close to the higher end of the normal range.
No rain was recorded at any weather station in Delhi in the last 24 hours. According to the forecast, dry weather will continue and there is no hope of rain in the next 24 hours as well.
Here’s How to Beat the Heat

- Stay Hydrated
1. Drink plenty of water—at least 8 to 10 glasses a day.
2. Coconut water, buttermilk, lemonade, and ORS solutions are also beneficial.
3. Avoid tea, coffee, and alcohol as they increase dehydration. - Wear Light and Loose Clothing
1. Opt for cotton clothes in light colours that absorb sweat.
2. Use hats, umbrellas, or sunglasses when stepping out in the sun. - Limit Sun Exposure
1. Avoid going out between 12 PM and 3 PM when the sun is at its peak.
2. If it’s necessary to be outside, walk in shaded areas and take frequent breaks.
3. Always carry a water bottle when going out. - Stay Cool
1. Keep your body cool by staying under a fan, cooler, or air conditioner.
2. If you feel overheated, take a cold shower or wipe your body with a wet cloth. - Eat Light and Healthy Meals
1. Include fresh fruits, vegetables, yogurt, and light meals in your diet.
2. Avoid fried, spicy, or heavy food. - Exercise with Caution
1. Exercise only in the early morning or late evening.
2. Drink water immediately if you sweat heavily and take rest when needed.
