This award is given every year by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of America to those who contribute to cinema. In such a situation, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao’s film “Missing Ladies” has been selected for the Oscar this year.
History of Oscar
The Oscar Awards started in the year 1927. Which was started by 36 people of the motion pictures industry. MGM Studios head Conrad Nagel, Fred Niblo, Louis B Mayer, and Fed Beatson together planned to form an organization. To implement this, a dinner party was organized at Ambassador Hotel, Los Angeles on 11 January 1927 in which 36 people participated. The proposal to form the organization was discussed in this party.
Many big personalities participated in that dinner party. George Cohen, Douglas Fairbanks, Mary Pickford, Cecil, Cedarick Gibbons, Jesse Lasky and Irving Thalberg were also included. After this, in March 1927, the organization was elected under the leadership of Douglas Fairbanks in which the Academy first got permission as an NGO.
To celebrate the permission, a party was held at the Built More Hotel on 11 May 1927 in which about 300 guests participated. Out of these 300 people, 230 became members of the organization by paying a fee of 100 dollars. Thomas Edison was also given the first honorary membership in this party.
When and who got the award for the first time
The first Oscars, i.e. Academy Awards, were given on 16 May 1929. This ceremony was held at Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. 270 people attended it. Tickets were also charged for this event. Which was 5 dollars at that time. The main award of that year was given to the film “Wings” for “Best Picture”.
How does one get a place in Oscar?

It should have been showcased between 1 January and 31 December of the year
Apart from this, the film should have run for at least 7 days in the same theatre
How is the voting counted?
The Academy has a research team of 6000 professional members. These include directors, producers, designers, musicians, documentaries, writers, actors, executives, film editors, public relations, hair stylists, visual effects, sound artists, and makeup.
These members vote for the films and to get maximum votes, the filmmakers have to show their film to the research team members. For this, the films are screened.
