The Scam Unveiled

A Vietnamese hacker group is victimizing people by sending fake E-challan messages. A recent revelation highlights how this group uses the fear of fines to deceive Indian users.

CloudSEK Report Findings

A cyber security firm, CloudSEK, has reported that a group of cyber criminals based in Vietnam is targeting Indian users. Their modus operandi involves sending fake E-challan messages to Indian users. These messages contain a link, and once clicked, it installs a malicious app on the victim’s phone, giving the hackers access to all the phone’s data, which they then use for cyber fraud.

How the Scam Works

This cybercriminal group sends messages to users’ phones under the guise of Transport Service or Karnataka Police. The messages contain fake information about traffic rule violations and fines. Along with this message, there is a link to pay the fine. Clicking on this link installs a malicious app that steals all the data from the phone.

Stay Safe

To avoid falling victim to this scam, do not click on any suspicious links received via SMS or other messaging platforms. Verify any e-challan notifications through official government websites or apps.
