Students Admitted to Colleges but Never Reached

ED Uncovers Major Human Trafficking Racket: This racket, involving over 200 Canadian colleges, is part of a larger human trafficking operation aimed at sending Indian students illegally to the United States. The accused arranged admissions for students in Canadian colleges, but the students never actually attended these colleges. Instead, they were smuggled across the Canada-US border. During their investigation, the ED raided locations in Mumbai, Nagpur, Gandhinagar, and Vadodara, freezing bank accounts worth ₹19 lakh. They also seized several suspicious documents, digital devices, and two vehicles linked to the racket.

3500 Agents Involved in Human Trafficking Across India

ED Uncovers Major Human Trafficking Racket: The ED initiated its investigation after a tragic incident in Gujarat, where a family from Dingucha village perished in freezing temperatures while attempting to illegally cross into the US. The institutions involved in this racket charged students between ₹55 lakh and ₹60 lakh each. The ED’s probe revealed that one organization sends about 25,000 students annually, while another sends over 10,000 students to Canadian colleges. However, the students are then illegally sent to the United States.

ED Uncovers Major Human Trafficking Racket: Around 3,500 agents are operating across India to facilitate this human trafficking scheme, with 800 agents actively involved. Approximately 112 Canadian colleges have signed agreements with intermediaries, and more than 150 colleges are involved with another set of agents. The main aim of this racket is to illegally transport Indian students to the US, resulting in substantial profits.
