Incident Details

On a Wednesday morning around 9 o’clock, Karan Singh’s convoy was on its way to Huzurpur. During the journey, a Fortuner car with “Escort” written on it attempted to overtake another vehicle. In the process, it lost control, hit an electric pole, andF subsequently crushed a bike rider and an elderly woman sitting by the roadside. The accident resulted in the immediate deaths of Shahzad Khan (24) and Rehan (17) from Nidura village, while a 60-year-old woman sustained severe injuries.

Convoy’s Reaction Post-Accident

Despite the severity of the accident, Karan Singh’s convoy did not stop. Karan Singh continued on his way, leaving the scene without addressing the aftermath. However, the vehicle involved in the accident, a Fortuner with the registration number UP 32 HW 1800, was later seized by the authorities, along with the driver. The front part of the vehicle was heavily damaged, but the airbags had deployed, saving the lives of the occupants inside.

The Fortuner involved in the accident is registered to Nandini Education Institute, managed by MP Brajbhushan Singh. The car’s registration links it directly to the educational institution overseen by the MP.

Background on Karan Singh

Karan Singh, born on December 13, 1990, is a former national player in double trap shooting. He is married and has a son and a daughter. Karan completed his graduation from Nandini College in Gonda, run by his father, and pursued business management studies in Australia. Currently, he serves as the President of the Uttar Pradesh Wrestling Association and is contesting his first election. According to his election affidavit, Karan owns several firearms and a significant amount of land and vehicles.

Public Reaction and Police Involvement

Following the accident, tension erupted at the accident site. Enraged locals surrounded the community health center and initially refused to allow the deceased bodies to be taken for post-mortem. The police faced significant resistance but eventually managed to take the bodies into custody and send them for post-mortem examination. Authorities are working to pacify the community and address the escalating anger among the villagers.

This tragic accident has not only claimed lives but also sparked significant public outcry and tension in the Gonda district. The involvement of a high-profile political figure’s convoy in such an incident has amplified the community’s distress, leading to increased scrutiny and demand for justice.
