Liquor shops in Uttar Pradesh have started giving huge discounts to clear their stock. This decision has been taken in view of the government’s new liquor policy, under which new tenders have been issued for liquor shops. This policy will come into effect from March 31.
Huge posters have been put up outside liquor shops in cities like Lucknow, Noida informing customers about huge discounts and “buy one, get one free” offers. Shop owners say they will incur huge losses if they fail to sell their stock.

“Buy One, Get One Free” on Liquor in UP
Liquor Association advocate Rohit Jaiswal said that the traders had filed a petition against the government demanding that the remaining stock be withdrawn before March 31 so that shopkeepers can be saved from losses. But despite the court order, the government has not taken any action in this matter.
Liquor Shops in Uttar Pradesh Slash Prices to Avoid Losses
Traders say that if the government does not take back the remaining stock, they will have to destroy it, which will cause them huge financial losses. To avoid this, they are offering huge discounts on liquor to clear the stock.
Now it remains to be seen whether the government takes any action on the traders’ demand or the discount on liquor continues till March 31.
