The Telangana High Court has granted interim bail to Allu Arjun in connection with the tragic stampede that took place at Hyderabad’s Sandhya theatre during the premiere of Pushpa 2.
A woman died in the incident. Allu Arjun was arrested earlier this morning. At around 4 pm, a trial court in Hyderabad sent him to 14-day judicial custody.
However, soon after his arrest, Allu Arjun filed a petition in the High Court seeking an urgent hearing in the case. Following this, the Telangana High Court granted him interim bail between 5 pm and 6 pm.
Stampede at Sandhya Theatre
A day before the release of Pushpa 2, a premiere event was held at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad on December 4. Allu Arjun and the star cast of the film attended the event.
However, after Allu Arjun’s arrival, there was chaos and a stampede. Sadly, a woman lost her life and her two children had to be admitted to the ICU.
Case Registered Against Allu Arjun
Based on the complaint by the family of the deceased woman, a case has been registered against Allu Arjun, his security team and the theatre management under sections 105 and 118 (1) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Three persons have already been arrested in connection with this case.
Allu Arjun’s Arrest and Lower Court Decision
Allu Arjun was arrested by Hyderabad Police between 12 and 1 pm today. Shortly after his arrest, he filed a petition in the Telangana High Court demanding an urgent hearing of the case.
However, around 4.30 pm, the Nampally court decided to send him to 14-day judicial custody.
High Court Grants Interim Bail to Allu Arjun
Shortly after the decision of the lower court in Hyderabad, the Telangana High Court heard Allu Arjun’s petition and granted him interim bail. The High Court’s decision came between 5 and 5:30 pm.
Victim’s Husband Expresses Willingness to Withdraw Case
Meanwhile, the deceased woman’s husband expressed his wish to withdraw the case. He said that Allu Arjun had no hand in the stampede that led to his wife’s death and expressed his wish to withdraw the charges.
