India is the only team to have reached the two back-to-back finals of the World Test Championship in 2021 and 2023. Now, to be in the finals of this one-off ICC event in 2025 at Lords, India needs to win the three remaining matches of the Border Gavaskar Trophy.

Before the 3rd Test match at Brisbane starts, Today We Shall Let Our Viewers Know How Many Times India Has Lost The Red Ball Series Despite Being 1-0 Ahead. As Fans of Indian Cricket, we do not want India to lose the current series against the Aussies after their fantastic win in Perth.

1. 2012: India Vs England In Ahmedabad –

India took a 1-0 lead after winning the first Test match at Shri Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The home side of that series, India won by nine wickets. Cheteshwar Pujara scored 206 runs, and Virendra Sehwag scored 117 runs, which helped India pile up 521 runs on the board in the first innings of that opening red-ball match.

The visitors, England were bundled out for 191 runs in their first innings and they were asked to follow on in that encounter. In their 2nd innings, the skipper of that time, Sir Alastair Cook scored a brilliant century which took them to 406 runs.

India had a target of just 77 runs, which the home side chased down with ease to win the 1st Test match. But India could not keep the same performances in the next Tests which they showed in the 1st Test match. The Blues lost the matches in Mumbai and Kolkata to lose the series while the fourth match was drawn in Nagpur.

    2. England Vs India – 2014 At Lords

Lords has been an iconic venue in world cricket. Winning a match at Lords is the proudest moment for any cricket-playing nation. On the tour of 2014, India and England drew the first Test match at Trent Bridge. But the visitors of that series, India won the second match at Lords and also took a lead of 1-0 in the five-match red ball series.

Ajinkya Rahane was the star for India in the 1st innings of the Lords Test match. His 103-run knock allowed the team to score 295 runs in their 1st innings and that didn’t look possible at one stage. England was also in the game because of Gary Balance’s 110 runs and Liam Plunkett also slammed a half-century in their 1st innings which helped them to muster 319 runs.

In India’s second innings, a collective batting effort from Murali Vijay, Stuart Binny and Ravindra Jadeja allowed India to amass 342 runs and set a target of 319 runs in front of England. But it was MSD’s masterstroke which helped India to win this match. He told Ishant Sharma to ball short-length deliveries which worked in India’s favour as Mahi and his men won the match by 95 and Ishant ended up picking seven wickets at Lords.

Mahi Bhai was just the second skipper from India to win a red ball match at Lords Cricket Ground at that time. But India couldn’t replicate the same performances in the next three matches of this five-match series. From being 1-0 up in the series, India ended this series with a scoreline of 1-3 with three back-to-back losses.
