Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, which we also call PMAY, aims to provide a safe and affordable house to every Indian citizen. Under this scheme, the government provides financial assistance, so that people can easily buy a house. This scheme was started in 2015 and it has been launched to fulfill housing in rural and urban areas. Along with this, a target of providing 3 crore houses has been set during this tenure of the Prime Minister.

Different subsidy to residents of different areas

So first of all, let us tell you that if you are a resident of rural area, then you get an amount of money ranging from 1 lakh 20 thousand to one and a half lakh rupees under this scheme. If you are a resident of a hilly area, you get Rs 1 lakh 30 thousand and if you are a resident of an urban area, you can get an amount of up to Rs 2 lakh 50 thousand.

Who can apply

People who do not already have a permanent house, or in whose house there is no educated person above 25 years of age, can apply.

The applicant should be at least 18 years old

Families below poverty line can apply.

The annual income of the applicant should not exceed 9 lakhs.

Who cannot apply

Candidates who have two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, and agricultural equipment or fishing boats cannot apply.

Candidates who have Kisan Credit Card (KCC), whose limit is more than or equal to Rs 50,000.

If any person in the family is in a government job, then that family cannot apply.

How to apply

There are two ways to apply for this scheme, first online and second offline. People of cities can apply for this scheme through online process, whereas rural people have to follow the offline process. For the offline process, rural people have to write an application with all the necessary documents in which they have to write that they want to apply for pmay scheme and you have to submit this application to the bdpo office through the Sarpanch.

For the same online process, first of all, one has to go to the official central government website dedicated to the PMAY scheme.

On the website, go to the menu tab and choose the “Citizen Assessment” option and enter your Aadhaar number as requested to proceed.

After the Aadhaar number is entered you will be directed to the application page.

Here you have to give your income details, bank account information.

Before finalizing the application, carefully check all the information you have provided.

After confirming the information, clicking on the “Save” option will give an application number.

Photograph
Address Proof: Like Voter ID, Electricity Bill
Caste Certificate: If you are from reserved category, then you have to provide caste certificate also.
