Hyundai Creta- Hyundai Motor India today (January 2) has revealed the electric version of its popular mid-size SUV Creta in India. The South Korean car maker will launch the electric SUV at the upcoming India Mobility Global Expo 2025. Hyundai Creta EV will be offered with two battery pack options – 51.4kWh, and 42kWh. The electric SUV will get four variants. These include Executive, Smart, Premium, and Excellence variants.
The company claims that the car will run up to 473km on a full charge and it can achieve a speed of 0 to 100kmph in just 7.9 seconds. Apart from this, it will get more than 70 safety features including Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). This will be the cheapest EV of the company. Its starting price can be kept at Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with Tata Curve EV, Mahindra BE6, MG ZS EV, and the upcoming Maruti E Vitara.
Exterior design: 17-inch alloy wheels
Hyundai has kept the design of the Creta EV similar to the regular Creta SUV. Its front has connected LED daytime running lights (DRLs), vertical dual-pod LED headlights like the regular Creta. In between them is a pixelated grille with small cubes, in the center of which is the charging port below the Hyundai logo. There are 4 retractable air vents on the lower grille, which will keep the electric motor and battery components cool. The EV does not have front fog lamps and a silver skid plate.
The side of the car has 17-inch alloy wheels with aerodynamic design, which are similar to the Tata Nexon EV. The silver window applique found in the Creta regular model has been replaced with a black finish. It also has a silver skid plate on the side. The rear has a connected LED taillight, which is similar to the regular Creta. Here, black trim has been provided below the boot gate, a new design bumper with pixel element, and a silver skid plate.
Interior and Features: Dual digital display, front ventilated seat
Hyundai Creta EV has a dual tone cabin, which will be similar to the standard Creta. It has a 3-spoke steering wheel with a drive selector lever like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 car. Its lower center console will also be different.
Like the ICE Creta, a dual digital display will be given on the dashboard in front. Features like dual camera dashcam, 10.25-inch digital driver display, dual-zone AC, vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging, and drive mode will also be given in the EV.
Apart from this, the car has features like a front ventilated seat, panoramic sunroof, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), three-point seat belt on the rear seat, adjustable rear headrest, 60:40 split rear bench, and 2-step recliner seat.
Performance: Range up to 473km on full charge
Hyundai Creta EV has a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor for performance, with which three driving modes – Eco, Normal, and Sport are available. The company claims that the car can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in just 7.9 seconds.
To power the electric motor, two battery pack options 42kWh and 51.4kWh will be given with the EV. The company claims that the car will run 473 km with a 51.4kWh battery pack on full charge and 390 km with a 42kWh battery pack. Information about the electric motor specification of the Creta EV is yet to be revealed.
It will take 58 minutes for Creta EV to charge from 10 to 80% via DC fast charger, while its battery will be charged from 10 to 100% in four hours via 11 kW AC wall box charger.
Safety Features: 360-degree camera and Level-2 ADAS
For safety, the car can be given 6 airbags (standard) and 360-degree cameras along with Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features, which can include safety features like Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist. Apart from this, features like Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), parking sensor, and ISOFIX child anchor seat will also be available.
