India’s flamboyant wicketkeeper batter was instrumental in India’s triumph in the Aussie Nation in 2021. He played a two gem of knocks which helped India to seal the series by the margin of 2-1. Pant scored an entertaining 97 runs at Sydney Cricket Ground and he even played an unbeaten knock of 89 runs at The Gabba in Brisbane.
ICC Player Of The Month Award: 2 Players From The Men In Blue Who Have Won This Honour Twice In Their International Careers –
1. 2023 –
In the year of 2023, it was Shubman Gill who won the ICC Player Of The Month Award twice. In January 2023, The Prince smashed a double Ton in the fifty-over form of the game versus New Zealand at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, which was his maiden ton in that format.
In September 2023, Shubman Gill was given the ICC Player Of The Month Award again for his excellent run in the fifty-overs format. Gill had scored 428 runs from nine matches and nine innings with 3 fifties and one century in the format. Gill was also instrumental in India’s win in the ODI Asia Cup in 2023.
2. 2024 –
India’s Boom Boom Bumrah is the second and the last player from the Men in Blue who have won the ICC Player Of The Month Award twice in a year. Jasprit Bumrah was one who has always delivered for India in the crunch moments. Bumrah had a great T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and Caribbean.
In the ICC mega event of the shortest form of the game, India’s lead and go-to pace bowler had picked up the most scalps for India. He took 15 wickets from just eight matches and Jasprit was also named as the Player Of The Tournament. In the overall list, Bumrah was ranked third.
In December 2024, Boom Boom Bumrah was again given this prestigious ICC Player Of The Month Award because he had an excellent Border Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia. In December last year, the Indian pacer picked up 22 wickets in that series and ended the year with 71 scalps to his name, which was the most by an Indian player in 2024.
