IND Vs BAN: Can Bangladesh Open Their Account In Test Matches Versus The Men In Blue?

Must read

IND Vs BAN: India and Bangladesh will meet again for a red ball match after completing the first test match in Chennai. India won that game by a margin of 280 runs and led the two-match series by one nil. India will look to seal the series by winning the second. The Blues are currently at number-one position in the WTC rankings as well.

India will also look to continue their unbeaten run versus the Bangla Tigers in the red ball format. They haven’t changed their squad for the second Test match. But if they want to rest Jasprit Bumrah for the last match of this ongoing series then the home side can hand a debut cap to Yash Dayal. Otherwise, this Indian team looks in fine form with Jaiswal, Gill, Pant, Jadeja and Ashwin being the heroes of the 1st match played at MA Chidambaram Stadium.

While the visitors, Bangladesh are yet to open their account against the Men in Blue in the red ball matches which have been played on their home soil and in India. The Tigers would certainly look to give an improved performance and level this series to one all.

After their fantastic achievement in Pakistan, Bangladesh was completely outplayed in the opening match of this two-match red ball series. India made good comebacks with the bat in hand and they were quite clinical with the red cherry as well, which never allowed the tourists to be in the game during the 1st red ball match.

Bangladesh will need runs from a batter who has scored the most runs and centuries versus India. Mushfiqur Rahim is a batter with a lot of experience and he needs to deliver for Bangladesh in the series-deciding match. In the first match, Mushi was out cheaply in both innings and he needs to take inspiration from the 2017 test match which was played at Hyderabad where Rahim scored 127 runs and he is still the only Bangladeshi batter to amass a ton in India in red-ball matches.

Shakib Al Hasan has been the highest wicket-taker for the Tigers versus India in the red ball matches. But he didn’t bowl much and whenever he came to bowl, he went for plenty of runs in both the innings. As an all-rounder the former skipper of Bangladesh will be required to contribute with the bat as well. He got starts in both the innings. But he failed to convert them into a big score.

Bangladesh will have to look at Shakib’s injury before the second and last match of this series starts. He didn’t bowl much maybe because of his finger injury. Shakib’s absence would be a huge blow for the Bangla Tigers and they will have to find a like-for-like replacement for him. Taijul Islam might be a good fit for Bangladesh for the 2nd Test match. Islam has played 46 Test matches and has picked up 195 scalps to his name.

Bangladesh needs Hasan Mahmud and Najmul Hossain Shanto to do well in both the innings. Mahmud became the first ever Bangladeshi bowler to pick up a five wicket haul in the 1st innings of the opening red ball match in Chennai. While skipper Shanto scored a gusty 82 runs in the second innings for them and that too while chasing a mammoth score of 515 runs. The openers also gave Bangladesh a steady start and the visitors will require that in the next match.
